No Hatin' N Datin' 2015
For Residents of Greensboro, North Carolina
GREENSBORO, NC (Feb. 2, 2015) – Across Greensboro, schools, city agencies, and service providers are joining the national effort to raise awareness about teen dating violence throughout the month of February.
The third annual No Hatin’ n Datin’ campaign asks young people to answer the question “What does a healthy relationship look like to you?”
Part of the campaign encourages youth between the ages of 13 and 19 to illustrate what healthy love is to them via Instagram photos posted at #NoHatinNDatin.
The images should clearly and creatively convey a healthy relationship through the unique perspective of the contest participant. For example, the photos can portray respect, boundaries, equality, acceptance, communication, and healthy ways to resolve disagreement.
Students at Dudley High School are using the national teen dating violence awareness and prevention campaign as a service learning project. In addition to contributing to the Instagram contest, students will create posters, appear on television broadcasts, and talk with their friends about this important topic.
The culminating event for the campaign is a 90-minute assembly at Dudley High School at the end of the month. Students from multiple grades will express their thoughts on teen dating issues through creative performances. Dr. Christine Murray, an expert on healthy relationships from UNCG Department of Counseling and Educational Development, will also participate in the assembly.
The goal of each of these activities is to promote behaviors that result in healthy relationships in young people.
