Today, January 1, 2018, marks the 5th anniversary of the official launch of See the Triumph! When we started See the Triumph five years ago, we had no idea how the campaign would grow and evolve over time. We just knew we wanted to honor the stories of the survivors who had participated in our research--they told us they were sharing their stories because they wanted their stories to help others. Their generous spirit was inspiring to us, especially as we knew the stigma and barriers they faced to even tell their stories. Our goal at See the Triumph has always been to provide supportive resources for survivors and work toward ending the stigma that survivors face. At this important milestone in our campaign, we can't help but reflect how much progress we've seen over the last five years. This past year in particular, we've seen survivors of many forms of abuse coming forward to tell their stories. Importantly, there has been a cultural shift toward these stories being more likely to be believed. And still, there is so much work to be done! As much as progress has been made, we know that far too many people are still experiencing abuse. And while many people have been freer to share their stories, survivors face many great challenges to getting the support they need, telling their stories, and having their offenders held accountable. And so, on this anniversary of See the Triumph, we stand in gratitude for everyone who has been a part of this journey, and we look forward to continuing to work together with you to continue to support survivors and keep breaking through the stigma that surrounds intimate partner violence and other forms of abuse. As our campaign has tried to do from the start, let us continue to let survivors' voices and stories lead the way. Comments are closed.
